Well apparently, looking through files in the L4D2 Demo to find references to both a “Miracle Pack” and “Apocalyptic Pack” to be downloaded from Xbox LIVE’s marketplace system. It looks like DLC may not be far down the road after release, which will be good, considering how frequent the previous Left4Dead was updated.
Owners of the PC version will have nothing to worry about, as Valve has stated time and time again, any DLC pricing is strictly done by Microsoft.
“On the consoles, they want us to charge money for [DLC], because that’s in their model, and our model is very much more to grow the community by giving out free updates,” said Valve president Gabe Newell last year. “That’s harder for us.”
There is also mention of the original Left 4 Dead maps, as well as mugshots of the original four survivors for character selection. Left over files from the first, or a possible clue to L4D2 supporting the original maps and characters, under the new engine?
Thanks to FPSBanana and G4 for bringing the story to my attention.
The original story can be found here, posted by Cordl3ssPen on the Rage3D forums.

The well-known L4D2 Boycott Group a group who was against Left 4 Dead 2 since it’s announcement has decided to close it’s doors on October 21st. The owner of the group know as “Agent Of Chaos” has said the group has completed it’s mission which was to make sure the first L4D would still get updates. Agent Of Chaos and fellow leader of the group “Walking_Target” appear to believe that L4D will in fact continue to be supported by Valve and have proven this with the newly released Crash Course campaign which was released last September.
The announcement also goes on to say that it’s goal was not to turn people off to L4D despite it’s page where it says that members of the group refuse to purchase the game until their demands are addressed, which they were back in June. This news comes from a recent report on the L4D2 pre-sales alone make the game the fastest-selling product in Valve’s history. Whether these incidents are related or not is up to you.
But according to many of the comments about the announcement it’s just a sellout.
The boycott has failed, why? Because the owners are a bunch of easily pursuaded sell outs.
What. A bunch of fucking sellouts..
FUCK THIS, i am still not buying it, I am so mad at valve, it still should not be a full game.
Free trips to Valve HQ (and probable loot, t-shirts and free cola) apparently make people forget that the whole boycott started because the ‘content’ scheduled for L4D was held back and re-packaged (EA style) into L4D2.
Liars! They bribed you to give up the boycott.
You guys are sellouts…
how much valve payed you guys to write this?

And in a shocking turn of events yesterday, a patch was released which supposedly fixed fake crits.
- Fixed a prediction error resulting in mis-predictions of crits
Sandviches now also activate right away, so you can just slap teammates in the face with it, healing them instead of phasing through them, confusing the hell out of everyone. That little annoying shoot-teammate-then-quickly-spectate exploit has been fixed, so people can’t teamkill anymore.
And probably the most visible change is the quickswitch menu, that lets people quickly switch (crazy shiz, I know) between unlocks. The silly bit is that this won’t work for items which can’t be selected, such as the razorback, spy watch, and so on.

There’s a whole slew of new info on L4D2 this week, and TF2 has had some awesome community content released recently as well.
First off there’s scavenger mode. It’s a multiplayer game mode where the survivors have to gather gas cans for a generator, while the other team tries to stop them as fast as they can. The match starts out with a timer, and filling up the generator with gas adds time. Afterwards the teams switch and the team who had survived the most wins. There’s some videos on this and gameplay from a charger’s point of view here, and footage of another (rather painfully uncoordinated) round here. Bonus points if you can spot the newest addition to the special infected cast.
A sourcemod plugin which allows admins to drastically alter map appearance was released a few days ago. The Themes plugin by J-factor allows servers to alter their skybox, weather, colour correction based on certain criteria. Words don’t do it justice, so take a look at all these themes.

This should've been in the game from the get-go.
Remember those activity heatmaps valve used to release? Msleeper wrote a sourcemod plugin to track x/y sentry placement, sentry kills, and so on. A script was then used to generate heatmaps which reveal some rather interesting information about engineering habits.

The new L4D campaign/versus/survival map has been released along with a few tweaks to gameplay. The most visible change in gameplay is that in versus, all items will be identical for both teams runthroughs. This adds a considerable advantage to the team that will play the infected the first round. Ten new achievements have also been added.
The map consists of two larger stages instead of the five level system present in other campaigns. Oddly enough these two maps have a crapload of pistols, gascans, and propane tanks scattered around. Don’t be surprised when you shoot through a zombie only to hit an item, triggering a fiery chain reaction in the vicinity.
The nice thing is that the survivors have several new voice files that are used in the new campaign. Never can get enough of the survivor chatter. (EDIT: Bill actually didn’t get any new voice lines. Quite a terrible and discriminatory oversight on valve’s part in my opinion.) That and all those humorous writings on the walls.
But enough about that, have some footage of the somewhat new L4D2 infected, the Jockey.

There’s a new TF2 update! And it seems to contain many of the fixes to weapons seen in the video posted earlier!
I’ll post all the update info below, but here’s a few important things I see:
-Sanvich now heals the heavy to full when he taunts, and he can drop it, giving it to other people.
Daed: 75hp/tick, 4 ticks.
-Medic regenerates faster, but having the blutsauger reduces that passive regeneration.
Too bad the blut is bugged right now and it doesn’t inhibit regen properly.
-Grenades and pipes now have a wider explode radius.
This is a bit of a myth. They’re wider in some places, shorter in others. They just made the explosion a sphere instead of a buggy bounding box.
-Spies can’t be seen with the halo anymore.
-Changed idle player check to include spectators & players who haven’t chosen a team (hopefully this means idlers who simply join a server and sit there will be noticed and kicked).

I’ll just skip the bugfixes and such and get to the gameplay part:
- Bullet spread algorithm changed to fire a bullet right down the crosshair under these circumstances:
- The first bullet of a spread weapon (except for rapid fire spread weapons like the minigun)
- The first bullet of a non-spread weapon if it’s been >1.25 seconds since firing
Why Valve decided to mess around with bullet weapons this late is unknown, but the most significant change will be with the revolver. Although it’s cone of fire is still worse than the ambassador’s, the first bullet fired in the last 1.25 seconds will be pinpoint accurate. This means you can pelt low hp people running away at longer ranges. The other weapons that will behave the same are the engie/scout pistol and the SMG. Imagine your regular CSS machinegun except any bullets fired in a burst will go all over the place after you shot your first.
And on a related note, the TF2 Blog has also been updated with some behind the scenes footage on how the developers work on new levels.

Go play KOTH. Or look at the final update that summarizes all the new stuff. And yukon.
OMG FAN FIXED I R HAPPY.
Also new hats.
Daed: The new update seems to bring a ton of problems to linux servers, and some windows servers too. Sourcemod renders servers unable to start, and Ican’t join or create a game. Just another day at Valve.
Spuz: Also, AUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. Why did no one tell me now its too late and I’m gonna be whiny for like 3 months.

Day two, we get a new game mode with three maps. A map called Viaduct, and the converted versions of the arena maps Sawmill and Nucleus. Nucleus kind of fits better in the KOTH theme in my opinion.
There were already some custom KOTH maps, so this doesn’t feel too new, but it’s nice either way.
Edit: Valve’s up to their old tricks again. Commenter Cobrastyle also linked us this. More posted in the comments section.

Or should I say hats.
The next update will be classless. So far only the first day has been revealed, so my immediate disappointment at the lack of weapons is unfounded.
Also joining the update is a new arena map named Offblast. This I like:
This mountaintop arena also boasts a sheer cliff face encircling the battleground, giving you the chance to help your opponents improve their tactics. Specifically, anyone you blast over the side will get some time to think about the various flaws in their “standing next to the edge of a cliff” strategy as they plummet to an excruciating, non-respawnable death.
