New TF2 blog post, this time answering a few questions about the Mac version of TF2. Gotta love their tone.

Q: Is it just some crappy emulated version of TF2?
A: No! Also: How dare you! Mac users aren’t getting a crappy emulated version of the game. TF2 will run natively on OSX, like an actual big boy game for adults.

In other news, CEVO season 5 starts next week, and registrations close on Sunday. More info on this here.

New TF2 blog post discussing one engineer unlock Valve has been thinking of. Truly, the engie is very hard to balance or modify without breaking something else severely.

Portal got updated again, this time with “Added valuable asset retrieval” being the only change. Goes without saying the steam forums are already looking into this incessantly. Edit: One hour later, a new endgame sequence.

Valve is also not so subtly hinting at the steam platform coming to the Mac. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but some ads seem to poke fun at the Mac’s shortcomings.

This one sent by Odin, an animated movie about TF2. Starts out fun but then it goes nuts. You’ll see what I mean.

Apparently made by a TF2 concept artist called Moby Francke. It’s probably a scrapped concept, as it doesn’t look like his head would actually fit inside his mask.

Not much to comment here. The runner-up entries have been posted, and there’s a rumor going around that a couple of entries weren’t exactly created by the submitters.

EDIT: Yeah, not much of a rumor, as the comments say. TF2’s also been updated to work with the steamcloud, but other than that, the patch doesn’t offer any new gameplay changes.

    A few things:

First, on the blog, Valve has created two exciting new posts. The first gives the numbers for the top 20 cheaters in the Soldier-Demo war. As they point out, one spectacular player managed to score a soldier kill every 2.7 seconds. No way he was cheating, right?

The second post contains all the propaganda contest runners-up. Wow, are there a LOT. Many of those would make great sprays. Make sure you have a bit of time to read them, because there are WAY more than I thought there were.

I also want to point everyone toward tf2lobby.com, a new site for forming pug (pick-up-game) groups. It’s set up primarily for 6v6 matches, though it also supports highlander (9v9 with one of each class). Players register, set up and join lobbies, and the site launches your game and automatically connects you to the server. Really awesome, and much easier to use than any previous form of pug set-up. If you have been thinking about competitive play but don’t know where to start, GO THERE. It’s great.

New patch, big deal. There’s been three new hats added, which are made out of more hats. Variants for the propaganda contest winners have also been added. They’re just the hats I mentioned, only with a small badge added on it.

The thing that baffles me is that now stickies can’t be shot out of the air. From what I’ve seen this mostly happens against a heavy, but why deprive him of a rare, short burst of glory against a class that already gives him enough trouble?

Talking about scootlegs is fun and all, Valve, but where’s our cvar that re-enables it?

Oh, and if you’re wondering why people die when they’re not on the tele, you have to think of the bounding boxes the source engine uses for players. Imagine each player uses a box that determines how he’ll collide with other players. If you teleport in near someone, and those boxes collide, he dies. There originally was going to be a part detailing that but I got lazy and skipped it.

On a related note, SFM is pretty awesome.

Note: Yes, teleporting does kill an uber. Note the demoman’s uber didn’t wear off, and the medic is ragdolled, meaning he too was ubered at the moment he got warped in on.

Community Fortress has an interview featuring none other than our favorite dev Robin Walker. Some tasty info is leaked, such as an upcoming optional lobby system for competitive TF2, tweaks to the item drop system to prevent or hamper idling, and others.
