A new version of Pirates, Vikings and Knights is out, and you’ve got no reason to just sit there and not play it. I mean, there’s Pirates, there’s Knights, there’s Vikings too, there’s a ton of fun game modes which are made even better thanks to the asymmetric teams, the melee system is actually done right (there’s no wussy autoaim stun bullshit ala AVP3), and the maps are great. I don’t know if it’s still in, but I remember having tons of TDM fun in an ancient mayan looking ruin filled with traps and dangers.
And to top it off, it’s also free. Get downloading ye scurvy dog.

We’ve been so busy playing Melee Clusterfu– Team Fortress 2 that we forgot to write up new updates on the site.
Nothing much to report, well, maybe except the fact that eyelander demomen REALLY have it easy with all the soldiers that do not switch to their shotgun to take them down.
Also, I’ve made the Direct Hit sound like the Quake 3 rocket launcher. The original sounded like scrap metal banging together so I changed it up a little bit.
Update: Doesn’t warrant an article of it’s own, but I’ve updated those critkill notices too.

So I’ve been working on some minor sound mods for L4D2 and I may make more. I may even try to make a whole pack for a Special Infected. But for now, it’s just small subtle things. Here are the download links.
To see how these soundmods work you can check my Youtube account. For the videos. If you don’t want to look through my videos to find them well then here they are alright?
And yes two soundmods are not available for download. The Final Fantasy Fanfare Healing and the WOOP WOOP sound alarm. This is because the WOOP WOOP alarm decided to break for some reason and in game it just plays once and never again. The Final Fantasy one is fine and if people want it I shall upload it.

Here’s a couple of L4D2 soundmods released recently. First one by me, simply makes the charger use the heavy’s lines. Incredibly exciting and complex, I know.
Next up, another Charger soundpack, this one making the charger echo Leeroy Jenkins famous battlecry across the landscape. This one’s by Jackvancouver.
Install instructions included in the readme file.

For those of you who don’t check the Left 4 Dead blog too often, and none would blame you, Erik Johnson posted on the 13th explaining that Gabe Newell and him had returned from their trip over in Australia. The visitation, for those who don’t keep up to date with the Valve news, was to test out Joe W-A’s Left 4 Dead campaign, after a few joke e-mails between the parties resulted in Joe W-A’s community forking over $3000 in under 48 hours.
The blog post explained that Valve was unable to actually make the contributors pay for their ticket, and instead donated the $3000 to Child’s Play, a video game based charity organization. However, they still counted the contributors donations in a pretty long image, showing the contributor’s name, amount and the distance that amount got them. The chart can be found by clicking the image below:
Pictures from the trip, as well as videos and information can be found on the Fly Gabe Newell blog set up by Joe W-A.

Here’s a new one I managed to polish up for a public release. It’s nothing big, but I’ve got more stuff on the way.

Fat got my tongue.
The clientside version can be found here, or at FPSBanana.
The serverside version that is used with the sourcemod equipment manager can be downloaded here.

Think of it as a tower hat inspired off this picture. Credit for that goes to the original author, Agent Melon.
Making hats doesn’t seem as hard as I thought it would be. The hat itself it looks something like this:

Classy.
If you’re a server admin and you want to use this with the sourcemod equipement plugin, you can get this from here.
If you’re just a player and you want to replace your hats clientside, download the hat from here. Installation instructions included inside the readme file. Also up at FPSB.
EDIT: Links should work now.

An EP2 mod that centers around puzzles and killing enemies in unorthodox ways.
I can’t explain too much, but take it from me – if you like puzzles, you’ll love this mod. Actually, you’ll love it anyway. It’s freakin’ awesome.
Oh and that part where you THINK you have to use a barrel shield? You have to actually stack the light looking things near you on the container you just crossed. That’s pretty much one of the few puzzles that just doesn’t make sense.
