Alright what’ve we got. The Sacrifice, the new DLC campaign for L4D and L4D2. In addition to the campaign where one player will have to take one for the team, Valve will also retrofit No Mercy to work with L4D2, and they’ll release a nice online comic too. This comes out in October.
I don’t recall if Portal 2 Co-op was announced in the past, but Valve’s release a nice little trailer for it on youtube.
This isn’t news, but some guy hacked up a trombone and fitted it with some incendiary equipment. Okay, the flamethrower trombone is cool but am I the only one that feels nervous when he turns it on in his room near all those easily combustible materials?
Oh, and a random item generator. It churns out some really underpowered stuff, we know.
EDIT: Oh, you silly racing fans. The heavy ain’t a truck.
Isn’t it a bit counterproductive to only have a few items pop up every time the item cap resets every late wednesday? This new item drop idea did stop most idlers from idling (for some fucked up reason people still do it), but I feel that people that care more about items and hats will stop playing for the rest of the week after they’re certain they hit the item cap.
Valve also announced that Portal 2 won’t be at E3 this year, but they do have a surprise in store for us. It’s probably that Midnight Riders DLC for L4D2 that was hinted at a while ago.
As for me, I’ll just be right here getting stressed out by upcoming exams.
Remember that fake engie update posted a while back? A video’s been released showing the Amplifier sort of working ingame. Wonder when this will be downloadable for server admins in Sourcemod script form…
Also, I seem to have missed a recent L4D2 blog post detailing achievements and a number of new gameplay mechanics. This new campaign just seems to get better and better.
EDIT: And an hour or two later, Valve drops a significant change to the drop system. More details on their blog. Idling will be a lot less useful now, and everyone that isn’t obsessed about models in a video game will now receive them more frequently. About time.
While ‘The Passing’ will be available for both L4D2 and L4D1, it seems they’ll kill off one of the old cast members by the time you’re done with it. If you’re playing L4D1, you’ll have to choose which team member to leave behind. But if you’re playing L4D2, the character that dies off will actually be the true choice.
Predicted spoilers? I’m seeing Bill kicking the bucket, seeing as there’s rumors of his voice actor going AWOL.
So whoever’s been waiting for that new expansion just so they could play with the original cast will be disappointed. The old cast is appearing in The Passing only as non-player characters. On the other hand, L4D1 will receive an expansion later on that ties in with the new L4D2 expansion. Derp.
Also, I’ll be updating the site from now on with other gaming news I find interesting. Source/Valve may be a fun subject but they don’t throw out good news that frequently, and since the editors I don’t pay stopped writing, I’m going to try to bring content here more often.
Edit: I’ll also be trying a few new things with the ads, if something does happen and you get bombarded with really annoying ads, please contact me.

Hopefully everyone’s had a nice Christmas so far. Besides the circus of value the steam store has been lately, Valve’s got another gift for you. A new single from the Midnight Riders, All I want for Christmas (is to kick your ass)
A L4D2 DLC campaign was announced recently, and the main focus of it is the return of the old survivors. This is great news for the fans who really connected with the original cast. The new campaign is called “The passing”, and it’s set in a small rural town in Georgia, featuring one new uncommon infected, one new melee weapon, one new firearm, and a new co-op mode.
What I’m wondering is how big this expansion will be. You’ve probably heard how each survivor has over one thousand voice lines, so there’s going to be some downloading to do. Also, pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but PC players can expect it to be free.
