Nothing much going on. Have a clientside no hat mod.
EDIT: Man, I could’ve sworn I posted something here about the new patch. Where’d it even go?

We all saw this coming, but some people just take it to crazy levels. Basically the guy spent around 3500$ on keys in one month. Just hold your thoughts there for a moment, think of 3500$, and think of what you could do with them. Spending it on a game is probably not one of the first things on your list. I’ll just be making my silly videos over here.
Oh, and the telltale poker game comes out next Monday, on the 22nd.
Edit: And an engine/TF2 update just went live. Check the comments, etc.
So that new update is out and everyone’s probably farming paper bags. If you haven’t already heard, you can easily get the horseman achievements by starting up your local server and forcing the boss to spawn. The console command would be: sv_cheats 1; hurtme -9999999; bot; tf_halloween_force_boss_spawn; sv_cheats 0
You can only get one single unusual metal though. And you can only use it to craft the new limited event items.
As for gameplay changes they added in a new weapon, the sticky jumper, which functions like a rocket jumper for the demoman. The RJ also got nerfed, which is great, because it used to be way overpowered with…all that damage it did.
So how about those patch notes. Nothing about game balance, but they did put in some new anti-scam advice in trade chat. Once again, I don’t think I like where this game is heading.
The L4D2 patch notes are fun too:
Fixed the fix of the fix of the fix of the door exploit in No Mercy
Oh yes, and Valve paid out about a total of 200 grand to the first ever five community contributors. You probably already know about this, it’s all over gaming news sites from what I can see. Well, there will be fun in store for the people in charge of sorting through all the new contribute entries. It’s like a gold rush right now I’d imagine.
EDIT: To put this all into perspective, the guys who got their custom maps put into TF2 got paid in the few thousands range. They had to create dozens of custom models, overlays, and of course the hardest part of all, the map itself.
Recently TF2 players have figured out the crafting recipes that were secretly put in for the polycount hats. Woah there, don’t get excited, you need four units of refined metal for it.
But hey, that’s okay, right? You didn’t need the hats anyway because it’s not like the set bonuses make a big difference anyway.
Valve changed a few things in the crafting system with a recent ninja patch. For instance, one scrap metal requires only 2 weapons now. You can also fabricate the new community weapons with two specific items, like the Critcola being made out of a kritzkrieg and a bonk drink. Check TF2items’ page on crafting for more.
They also seem to have upped the weekly item cap a bit, but I can’t be certain. Hats are becoming more and more common, so maybe people will finally stop making such a huge deal about them.
New blog post, big picture in the front, heavy and pyro wearing new hats. This means they added new hats into the game right?
To celebrate the release of The Penal Zone, the first episode in Sam & Max’s new adventure, The Devil’s Playhouse, the Telltale team has provided us with some awesome TF2 items. We’re going to give them out to everyone who buys The Penal Zone in the next week.
Okay Valve, that’s not funny, don’t do that.
They also nerfed the equalizer. At 200hp you’re still doing the damage you used to do, but now you do 113 damage at 1hp. Speed remains unchanged. Fun is in decline.
A TF2 update just rolled out, following a string of unknown items drops reported yesterday. While the patch notes were relatively uninteresting, the community hats and weapons included got found pretty much right away. The three new weapons are:
- The Dalokohs bar – Heavy lunchbox, adds +50% max hp for 30 seconds.
- The Pain Train – Demo/Soldier melee, adds +1 capture speed while increasing damage received from bullets by 10%
- The Homewrecker – Pyro melee, 200% damage against buildings, -25% damage against players.
There’s also several new hats.
This new official blog post explains everything but the part you’re interested in is this:
Meanwhile, everyone who took the moral high road will soon be finding a new hat in their inventory. We’ve also significantly increased the chance of finding any of the existing hats.
Now you’d think this was a good thing, but the problem is everyone will receive the same hat: a tacky looking halo. What’s the point of this if everyone sans a few people will have this item?
They’ve also increased the drop rate of hats, but that won’t be noticeable from an introspective point of view.
EDIT: Also, people getting kicked from servers for having or not having a halo. The tears are so delicious.
