Valve’s put up a couple of Portal 2 gameplay vids on their official youtube channel. This isn’t news if you’ve seen E3, but it’s nice to see everything in glorious HD.

The polycount contest has ended, and there’s some rather nice entries in there. A few of the posters are down though, it’s never a good idea to use imageshack as an image host when your site’s about to get bombarded by a whole userbase. Anyway the contest winners will be announced on the 12th of July, though Valve will probably have to take a break from all the judgin’ before actually implementing the new weapons.

Isn’t it a bit counterproductive to only have a few items pop up every time the item cap resets every late wednesday? This new item drop idea did stop most idlers from idling (for some fucked up reason people still do it), but I feel that people that care more about items and hats will stop playing for the rest of the week after they’re certain they hit the item cap.

Valve also announced that Portal 2 won’t be at E3 this year, but they do have a surprise in store for us. It’s probably that Midnight Riders DLC for L4D2 that was hinted at a while ago.

As for me, I’ll just be right here getting stressed out by upcoming exams.

Left 8 Dead

Most of you who’ve been keeping tabs on E3 probably already know about Valve‘s next project: Left 4 Dead 2. In the teaser we can see a new mechanic: melee weapons such as chainsaws, frying pans, axes and bats. The zombies also don’t seem to care as much about pieces of themselves missing, and we can also take note of the first appearance of the tank-like pimphand zombie at the end of the video. The crew however has changed, everything seemingly taking place in Louisiana.

But without Francis, this game will fail.
