I mean, check out who the guest in their latest video is.
Also, those of you who play BC2, you may notice there’s a new patch out. Funnily enough, balance remains untouched and the only things that have been fixed were some really blatant bugs caused by their haste to throw the game out as quickly as they could.
Apparently made by a TF2 concept artist called Moby Francke. It’s probably a scrapped concept, as it doesn’t look like his head would actually fit inside his mask.
He’s the co-founder and head of one of the most influential game developers of all time and now Valve’s Gabe Newell is being honored for his many achievements. The Game Developers Choices Awards have announced that Newell will be the 2010 recipient of their Pioneer Award.
Newell, who becomes the third winner of the Pioneer Award, is being honored not just for his achievements in game development with the Half-Life series, the Left 4 Dead series and more but also with Valve’s creation of the Steam download service. He will receive the Pioneer Award at ceremonies at the the Game Developers Conference on March 11.
Good for him! He and everyone at Valve deserved it. Now maybe this will be a big incentive for Valve to say something about Episode 3. I believe congratulatory e-mails are in order.

Nothing much happening in the Valve-verse right now, other than the (not-so) great offers in the steam store. So get out there and have a Happy New Year.

Hopefully everyone’s had a nice Christmas so far. Besides the circus of value the steam store has been lately, Valve’s got another gift for you. A new single from the Midnight Riders, All I want for Christmas (is to kick your ass)
This is a pretty nifty site. It displays data on how frequently maps are played, server stats, statistics on a player’s time played/points/current items/etc., and my personal favorite: Item usage. It shows how much people use unlocks compared to the standard weapons, gathered from a sample of ~1,400 players. According to it, only 9% of players use the backburner, while 82% use the ubersaw. And there’s also a bit more.
