Isn’t it a bit counterproductive to only have a few items pop up every time the item cap resets every late wednesday? This new item drop idea did stop most idlers from idling (for some fucked up reason people still do it), but I feel that people that care more about items and hats will stop playing for the rest of the week after they’re certain they hit the item cap.

Valve also announced that Portal 2 won’t be at E3 this year, but they do have a surprise in store for us. It’s probably that Midnight Riders DLC for L4D2 that was hinted at a while ago.

As for me, I’ll just be right here getting stressed out by upcoming exams.

The game isn’t about the newest items, and certainly not about hats. I don’t see why people are getting so worked up over this.

I think I’m noticing it more because I care about the new items more than the new hats. Everyone’s getting them through drops, and I don’t even get the right spares so I can craft them.

That’s true, I’ve been getting plenty of drops, almost 20 a week, but never ANY of the new ones since the crit a cola and not even the craft ingredients! >.< Still, the game enjoyable though, and I don't see why people should be so worked up about it.

I idle sometimes, just because I know I have no time to actually play and earn items the fun way. I realize that the drops carry over from week to week, but I’m an impatient bastard.

I am of the “VALVe should make the drops reset every day, not every week” group. It would certainly make me feel better opening up the game each day, knowing that I will get at least 1 item that day, instead of “using up” all my drops in a 2-day period, never seeing a new item till wednesday.

Also, *points and laughs* I finished my last final today.

I uninstalled TF2 after i realized i was only playing for the items.

Now, every time i see a new update for TF2, it lessens my will to play the game, instead of raising it.

    Churcute-you are an idiot.

    Not trolling, it is true.

I have more than 1000 hours of play time in TF2, the drop system somehow made the game boring for me, it felt like i was playing for items only, so i uninstalled it. New items no longer hype me like they used to, and believe me, i was ultra-excited when the Medic update was announced, i remember watching a preview-video and thinking how cool the new items were.
Now, I don’t feel like playing TF2 anymore, i no longer have fun playing it, the game changed over the years, and i didn’t like the directions it took.

I sometimes lurk in the forums, and read the blogs, but game-wise, TF2 is dead to me.

I can see where you’re coming from. I lose interest in TF2 in between updates. You reach a point where you only play it for the items and the social interaction.

  • DaveRhodes Says:

Ehh, I like the shiny new items, and if I can get them I’ll get them, but I still play for fun.

That said I haven’t played in a little over a month, but that’s only because I haven’t found the time. TF2 has been my new Battlefield 1942 since it came out, and it’ll take one hell of a game to unseat TF2 for me.

And no, I don’t think the Battlefield series is going to do it. While I appreciate the direction they’re headed, I prefer how simple TF2 and BF1942 are.

I just heard of this item cap, not that much of a hard core gamer, but i see no difference in this item cap then to the regular way. In a total of 5 hours of gameplay mabye 6 I got four weapons so I didn’t see any difference but I do see how you guys would get bored after 1000 hours of gameplay because you always are beating everyone. Also this is more then what I usually get.
