Well, a recent patch came out and they finally fixed that one bug that slipped under the radar since the spy update.
- Fixed a case where the Spy could start taunting and cloak at the same time
Sad that they went to town on it with an axe, I really loved this bug. Other changes include CSS beta tweaks like actually being able to see on dust and a supposed engine crash fix.
They also buffed the pyro just a little bit, his flamethrower does 10% more damage and afterburn has been reverted to 10 seconds. His flaregun also crits burning enemies at longer ranges. Exactly how long? Well, I’ve tested it a bit and found it to crit past roughly 800 units. That’s around one and a half granary containers or most of the 2fort bridge. Also, a flaregun crit does 90 damage, while a minicrit does around 40.

Wow. The invisitaunt was really nice and I actually employed it as a strategy, albeit rarely. Why is valve doing all this?

Well, ****. I loved to cloak-taunt sentries… Ah, well… I guess you can’t win ‘em all.
The Flare Gun change was kinda stupid, IMO. It’s much harder to hit enemies who are close than ones who are far away… if anything, the crits should happen at close-range, if not at all ranges (I also felt that mini-crits were more than enough, but w/e).

So the damage of the Flamethrower has been increased again, while the Backburner’s bonus damage has been decreased. With all the airblasting buffs going on, the choice between those two is getting more and more obvious. I have not used the Backburner very much before those updates, so I can’t really tell the difference between the “old” and the “new” version, but somehow it seems like it has been nerfed in contrast to the Flamethrower.

Actually, the cloak taunt thingy still exists, there’s a video of it somewhere on SPUF. I think I remember hearing something about quickswitch being something to do with it.

jarate + axtingusher gets you the scotsmen skullcrusher +20% damage -15% movement speed and it has no taunt
