How many of you said to yourself, “this year I’m going to really pull out all the stops and make a truly spectacular TF2 Halloween costume! Then I’ll invent a jetpack and solve world hunger!”

Me too. Except as Halloween crept closer, I crept further away from turning my dream into reality. I mean, even the easiest costume would involve stitching, shopping, and work! How tiresome!

Then the Halloween update came out and I saw my chance. A paper bag hat! How easy!

Soon, with the help of some crayons and a shopping bag I had my own TF2 costume!

    PAPER BAG HAT

Such professional quality! Such inventive design! Such a cool They Might Be Giants shirt!

So, for those of you with ten minutes and whose other costume prospects limited to ‘teacher’ or ‘lawyer’ or ‘person in normal clothes,’ I have created an amazing tutorial! HEER GOEZ.

To start I had to pick a design! Valve outdid themselves and created a different one for every class, so thank Gabe someone had made research easy– after a quick search I found this page in all it’s picture-iffic glory.

The picture above is the scout-bag-hat I wore to school (to the absolute confusion of all my friends, none of whom play TF2). Now I’m going to go through the process for my amazing sniper-bag-hat.

    • Step 1: Get your crap together. The things you’ll need are:
    A bag and...

    A grocery bag and...

...scissors, red, black, and white crayons, orange and black pens.

I did my best to find the smallest grocery bag that would still fit over my head, but more importantly that had as little writing or decals on it as possible.

You should also tear the handles off like so:

    • Next step is drawing the face on. Do a quick outline, then fill it in with with crayon, then add the surrounding color like so:

    • Last step is ‘eye holes.’ First put the bag on your head and put your fingers where your eyes are so you can get a good idea where the holes need to be.

    Look into my eyes...

Then take your scissors and poke a small hole where the eyes need to be (take the bag off first). Cut about one inch to the side of either hole to expand the eye slits.

Believe it or not, I can sorta see out of these holes.

Put the bag on. Walk around and bump into things. Spend ten minutes explaining to your friends what Team Fortress 2 is and why your costume is a bag with some writing on it. Have fun!

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night...
