Well apparently, looking through files in the L4D2 Demo to find references to both a “Miracle Pack” and “Apocalyptic Pack” to be downloaded from Xbox LIVE’s marketplace system. It looks like DLC may not be far down the road after release, which will be good, considering how frequent the previous Left4Dead was updated.
“On the consoles, they want us to charge money for [DLC], because that’s in their model, and our model is very much more to grow the community by giving out free updates,” said Valve president Gabe Newell last year. “That’s harder for us.”
How many of you said to yourself, “this year I’m going to really pull out all the stops and make a truly spectacular TF2 Halloween costume! Then I’ll invent a jetpack and solve world hunger!”
Me too. Except as Halloween crept closer, I crept further away from turning my dream into reality. I mean, even the easiest costume would involve stitching, shopping, and work! How tiresome!
Then the Halloween update came out and I saw my chance. A paper bag hat! How easy!
Soon, with the help of some crayons and a shopping bag I had my own TF2 costume!
Such professional quality! Such inventive design! Such a cool They Might Be Giants shirt!
So, for those of you with ten minutes and whose other costume prospects limited to ‘teacher’ or ‘lawyer’ or ‘person in normal clothes,’ I have created an amazing tutorial! HEER GOEZ.
So Valve decided to get into the spirit of Halloween. With this update comes arena_harvest, 5 achievements and something about explosive pumpkins! There was also a quick event handing out special halloween hats much like the debacle with the soldiers medals. And as of this post they are all out. Oh but don’t worry Valve has made it easier on us! If you see someone wearing the special hat, dominate them and the hat will also be yours!
There also seems to be a mysterious message from a “Zepheniah Mann” (Mann? Like Mann Co?) His name is on the tombstone located on the update page.
Well I’m sure many of you TF2 fans are aware, that letters sent to the Valve HQ using the FaN coupon from the Scout Update page received Team Fortress Keychains.
Well those who sent in letters way back when, during the Sniper Vs. Spy update recently received some interesting swag featuring MANN CO.’s president, Saxton Hale.
Well, I can see the shitstorm brewing on the horizon when they’ll start complaining about how everyone cancelled their preorder and torrented the game after what happened.
Oh wait, you can’t cancel a preorder on steam. Just remember, 2K games, the publisher is most likely responsible, and not the developer. They’re the ones that pushed back the PC release date in the first place.
Daed: Meanwhile, here’s the censored version of the L4D2 trailer. Notice it’s on EA’s official German channel, even though the quality of the trailer would lead you to believe that it’s a fan-made machinima vid. Hint: Valve probably didn’t take part in making this.
Now, you may be asking yourselves just what the hell CSS weapons are doing in L4D2. Apparently, the German censored version will have half-assed exclusive DLC to make up for the lack of gore. Nah, that’s cool, it’s not like the censored versions of the game had their immersion ruined in the first place.
But apparently the Australian version doesn’t get the aforementioned weapons. Censorship sure is great, huh?
Alright, ever since Valve decided to award each class with new weapons the internet has been springing with ideas for their favorite class. Some serious ideas, some not so serious but most of them aren’t exactly the best ideas. I would go as far to say they’re silly. Why is this? Because people seem to think the way you make a new weapon is give it a good side and a bad side to even it out and voila! New weapon! But this is not the way Valve does it despite what most may think. So for those of you too lazy to look into how Valve thinks of new ideas and puts them into play, I will explain to the best of my abilities and maybe one day you will have a good idea that Valve may actually like when they decide to do a second round of new weapons.
