The latest steam client update introduced verified emails. What you do is go to File->Settings->Account tab and click Verify email address.
What happens now is that an email is sent to your contact address verifying you’re the owner of your steam account, and whenever information is changed on your account it first has to be verified through your contact email addy.
Now you can laugh in the face of all those phishers that were bothering you over steam chat. Though the sad bit is that the people that fall for it are probably the ones that don’t bother to verify their emails in the first place.

I mean who’d need to play with ridiculously overpowered weapons like this?
Why yes, I do think that the rumors surrounding the new items are silly.

I’ll just skip the bugfixes and such and get to the gameplay part:
- Bullet spread algorithm changed to fire a bullet right down the crosshair under these circumstances:
- The first bullet of a spread weapon (except for rapid fire spread weapons like the minigun)
- The first bullet of a non-spread weapon if it’s been >1.25 seconds since firing
Why Valve decided to mess around with bullet weapons this late is unknown, but the most significant change will be with the revolver. Although it’s cone of fire is still worse than the ambassador’s, the first bullet fired in the last 1.25 seconds will be pinpoint accurate. This means you can pelt low hp people running away at longer ranges. The other weapons that will behave the same are the engie/scout pistol and the SMG. Imagine your regular CSS machinegun except any bullets fired in a burst will go all over the place after you shot your first.
And on a related note, the TF2 Blog has also been updated with some behind the scenes footage on how the developers work on new levels.

So, for those who had the opportunity to go into overtime in KOTH, you might have heard one of the best glitches ever- the announcer constantly reminding you what time it was, in a repetitive yet amusing fashion.
“Overtime! OVERtime! Oovertiime! Overtime!”
At the time I heard many people saying things along the line of “I kinda hope Valve will leave this in but they wont.”
Well never fear. In tonight’s patch notes:
-Fixed Announcer overtime bug on KOTH servers using mp_timelimit
–Due to many requests, added server ConVar “tf_overtime_nag”. When set to 1, it keeps the broken announcer behavior

Well, yeah. L4D2. I kinda forgot about it, but I feel obligated to at least write about important developments concerning it. Like, for example, the announcement of a new campaign set on an old and creepy (duh) fairgrounds.
It’s all I got; I’m kinda thinking about something else right now.
Edit: So I started to actually watch some of the videos I linked to and to my surprise there is some intriguing discussion with Gabe Newell about the TF2 comic and other uses of the TF2 IP, including saying he could “absolutely” imaging a day when there would be a TF2 movie or TV show.

Go play KOTH. Or look at the final update that summarizes all the new stuff. And yukon.
OMG FAN FIXED I R HAPPY.
Also new hats.
Daed: The new update seems to bring a ton of problems to linux servers, and some windows servers too. Sourcemod renders servers unable to start, and Ican’t join or create a game. Just another day at Valve.
Spuz: Also, AUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. Why did no one tell me now its too late and I’m gonna be whiny for like 3 months.

Day two, we get a new game mode with three maps. A map called Viaduct, and the converted versions of the arena maps Sawmill and Nucleus. Nucleus kind of fits better in the KOTH theme in my opinion.
There were already some custom KOTH maps, so this doesn’t feel too new, but it’s nice either way.
Edit: Valve’s up to their old tricks again. Commenter Cobrastyle also linked us this. More posted in the comments section.

Wow, the resourcefulness of internet people never ceases to amaze me. Or maybe this is planned, I don’t know. Or care. Because it’s MORE STUFF.
Somehow, news of four additional update-related URLs has gotten out to the Internets. I’m not quite sure what these new images mean, other than that Valve really likes their fake 19th century newspaper jokes. Seriously.

Or should I say hats.
The next update will be classless. So far only the first day has been revealed, so my immediate disappointment at the lack of weapons is unfounded.
Also joining the update is a new arena map named Offblast. This I like:
This mountaintop arena also boasts a sheer cliff face encircling the battleground, giving you the chance to help your opponents improve their tactics. Specifically, anyone you blast over the side will get some time to think about the various flaws in their “standing next to the edge of a cliff” strategy as they plummet to an excruciating, non-respawnable death.

So, I’m not sure how, but I completely forgot to post some rather intriguing new Left 4 Dead info, specifically soon-to-be-released free DLC.
The new stuff comes in the form of a new campaign that ties together the end of No Mercy to the beginning of Death Toll. It will come with both campaign and versus mode included, and is supposed to be short to aviod hour-long matches (I heard it’s supposed to play through in half an hour).
So, there it is. Should be coming soon. Real DLC. No need to say Valve isn’t trying.
Also, here’s a preview from Destructiod. And the campaign poster, after the break.
