    An update introduced to Team Fortress 2 today has done a complete 180 from Valve’s original intentions of random unlocks and has now introduced milestones like the original system for unlocks. Not only that, but they’re being fairly kind about it: You only need 5, 11 and 17 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd milestones respectively, instead of the usual 10, 16 and 22. Looks like Valve has finally caved in to the massive amounts of idling and criticism. You do, however, still need to play the game mindlessly until a mystical dice roll decides “Hey, you can have a new hat for absolutely no reason!”. Such innovations Gabe!

    • Added Sniper/Spy milestone achievements as an additional way players can get the new unlockables
    • Arena Mode
      • Added tf_arena_use_queue server convar. Turn this on to get the old queue behavior. Default is off
      • Added tf_arena_round_time to set a timelimit on the round
    • Added the userid of the player who built the teleporter to the “player_teleported” event
    • Fixed player killed event causing server crash
    • Fixed Spies not being telefragged when standing on an enemy teleporter exit with the Dead Ringer enabled
    • Fixed attackers seeing the mini-crit particle effect for full crits if the victim has the Jarate effect enabled
    • Fixed the Ambassador not doing damage to buildings
    • Fixed Spies disguised as their own team not drawing blood effects
    • Fixed players killed by flaming arrows not showing the appropriate death icon

    This still leaves a lot of unanswered questions though. Why are we still getting duplicates? Why must we enter this absurd lottery just to get ourselves new hats? Why does Gabe’s large mass not just pull everything towards him due to his massive gravitational force?

    Only time will tell.

    Magical tip: A sniper who has a huntsman arrow primed can have a pyro light it for him, igniting the poor sod who manages to get in the way of its trajectory. The more you know!

    Tis’ a mixed blessing. The TF2 forums are abuzz with MORE complaints about them caving in to the criticisms. I guess no one can be happy with what they get, haha.

    Thankfully, in my being AWESOME as a spy, I ended up getting about 20 achievements right then so whenever Steam decides to update my TF2, I can look forward to finding an ambassador lying eagerly in my inventory.

    For some reason I don’t get the milestones, and since the only achievements left to do are dead ringer/jarate, it’s not gonna be a wonderful time.

    once you get 1 achievement, it will grant you all the weapons from previously earned achievements so don’t worry.
