Rarely do you see unofficial custom animations in source games, mainly because not only is it hard to decompile, edit and recompile animations, but it is also hard to make an animation look good. Motion capture solves the latter, quickly capturing human motions in a fluid manner, however coming across someone who has access to that technology and is interested in it’s applications in machinima is not something you’d expect to happen a lot.
Video after the jump…
Sounds a lot like something our scout would say. I’d keep a watch on their channel, the title of the video suggests more mocapped goodness in the future. The video isn’t real-time, at least from what I can gather source does not support direct input like that.
Meanwhile, check out this brilliant video of what breakdancing and motion capture can do if you haven’t already seen it. Don’t mind the awkward voice acting in the beginning, the video is a must see.

So, what you are saying is that they still had to take the motion capture and insert it into source separately, they can’t just put it directly to the character?

Doesn’t really work that way, what they did was probably get mocap data from the guy, edit the animations on the sniper, using that data to make a new animation, then synch up the ingame and real footage to make the video.
